Red Racer ESB

Rating: 7.5/10

ABV: 5%

We’ve been a little hesitant to sample some brews from Central City Brewing just because we have drank so many of them. However, we are going to the opening of their new brewery location in a couple weeks, so we thought now was as good a time as any!

Appearance – Dark red amber

Smell –  Slight pine smell, fruity, caramel.

Taste – Bitter at first, followed by sweet molasses flavour. Dry finish.

Mouthfeel – Bubbly carbonation.

Overall – Long lasting hoppy flavour and good  mouth feel. Honestly, I did this tasting after having a couple drinks already so my notes weren’t the greatest.  I love Red Racer though, and I love ESB’s.  This one is average though.

From the Brewer

The use of crystal malt lends the Red Racer ESB’s flavour and colour profile. Packed with hops from the North West and United Kingdom this is our original take on the classic English bitter.

Malts – UK Maris Otter, Superior Pale Ale Malt, Blend of Crystal Malts

Hops – German Magnum, Horizon, Centennial, Cascade
